China Eastern Airlines has announced a major fleet expansion by ordering 25 Airbus A330neo wide-body aircraft in a deal valued at approximately $9.35 billion at catalog prices. The airline says the final purchase price will be lower after securing significant discounts.
The aircraft will be delivered between 2029 and 2033 and will support the airline's long-haul international growth from Shanghai. China Eastern also plans to retire older A330 aircraft, improving efficiency with the fuel-saving Airbus A330neo and its advanced Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.
The order reflects strong confidence in the recovery of international air travel and China's growing aviation market.
