British Airways Boeing 777 Makes Emergency Return After Technical Problem

A British Airways Boeing 777-200ER operating flight BA295 from London Heathrow to Chicago experienced a serious technical problem shortly after takeoff on October 5.

While flying over Ireland at around 37,000 feet, the crew declared an emergency using the 7700 code. The aircraft then descended rapidly to about 9,000 feet. Some passengers reported that oxygen masks were deployed.

British Airways described the situation as a technical issue and did not officially confirm a pressurization problem. The crew decided to return to London, where the aircraft landed safely at Heathrow.

All passengers were safely disembarked, and no injuries were reported. An investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of the incident.
