Singapore Airlines Hit by Cyberattack: 46,000 Passenger Records Affected

Singapore Airlines has reported a cybersecurity incident that may have affected around 46,000 passenger reservation records.

The incident involved Amadeus, the company that provides reservation technology for the airline.

What Information Was Affected?

The exposed records included:

- Passenger names
- Booking reference numbers
- Travel routes
- Flight details

Around 620 records may also have included sensitive information, such as passport details and other travel documents.

 Was Payment Information Affected?

Singapore Airlines confirmed that its own IT systems were not hacked.

The airline also said that credit card and bank information were not affected.

What Does This Mean for Passengers?

The incident raises concerns about the safety of passenger information in the aviation industry.

Airlines depend on technology companies to manage bookings and passenger details. If these systems are attacked, customer information can be exposed.

Passengers should be careful with unexpected emails, phone calls and messages asking for personal or travel information.

Cybersecurity Remains a Big Challenge for Aviation

As airlines become more dependent on digital technology, protecting passenger information is becoming increasingly important.

This incident is another reminder that cybersecurity is a major challenge for the global aviation industry.

Passenger information must always be protected.
