Small Plane Crashes on German Highway, Killing Two People

A tragic plane crash in Germany has claimed the lives of two people after a small aircraft crashed onto a busy motorway in Saxony-Anhalt.

The accident happened at around 2:48 PM on the A2 motorway between Burg and Krähenberge, heading towards Hanover.

According to police, the aircraft caught fire after hitting the highway. Both people on board were found dead by emergency rescue teams.

The aircraft reportedly belonged to the Aero Club Kropp, based in Schleswig-Holstein. The club confirmed that one of its members and another person were on board.

Initial flight-tracking information suggests the aircraft may have been a two-seat Aerostyle Breezer ultralight. However, authorities have not officially confirmed the aircraft's exact type.

Firefighters, police officers and medical teams attended the scene. Fortunately, other vehicles travelling on the motorway were not affected.

The A2 motorway towards Hanover was closed while emergency teams worked to remove the wreckage and investigate the accident.

The cause of the crash remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what happened.
