Charles Lazarus, founder of Toys "R" Us, who decided to liquidate all stores in USA on March 15th and will share the same fate in sales points in Asia and Europe, lost his life at the age of 94.
Lazarus, who came to the world in Washington in 1923, earned his first money by selling broken bikes with his father Frank Lazarus while he was a child.
Lazarus, who worked as a decoder in the army in World War II, filled his father's bicycle shop with baby furniture in 1948. Lazarus changed the furnishings with toys because of the long life of the furniture, a customer rarely returning to shop. According to Lazarus, toys were great products for sale because they were not very long-lived.
The famous businessman opened the first Toys "R" Us store in Maryland in 1957. Targeting to reach high sales volume at low prices, Lazarus has transformed toy shopping into a habit that spreads all over the world, from a spending at the beginning of the year.
