Emirates finalizes $56 billion deal for 150 Boeing 777s

Emirates' 150-jet order includes 115 777-9X models and 35 of the 777-8X version. The Associated Press adds "the list price for the 400-passenger 777-9X is $377.2 million, while the list price for the 777-8X - which can carry up to 350 passengers - is $349.8 million."

The deal also gives Emirates options for 50 additional 777s, which – if exercised – would boost the deal's list-price value to about $75 billion.

"With the order for 150 777Xs, Emirates now has 208 Boeing 777s pending delivery, creating and securing jobs across the supply chain," Emirates president Sir Tim Clark says in a joint statement from Boeing and Emirates.

"Today Emirates operates more than one in every 10 Boeing 777s aircraft built," Clark continues. "We fly 138 of these efficient planes across the globe spanning the USA and Latin America in the west, to New Zealand and Japan in the East. The 777X will offer us operational flexibility in terms of range, more passenger capacity and fuel efficiency, and we look forward to inducting them into our fleet from 2020."

Reuters writes Emirates' blockbuster 777 order "follows the surprise cancellation in June of a $16-billion order by Emirates to buy 70 of Airbus' A350 aircraft, which delivered a blow to the European planemaker's newest aircraft and hit its share price."

Reuters also notes Emirates' November airshow agreement with Boeing included Qatar Airways in a joint negotiation. "However, it was not clear whether the Doha airline had finalized its order yet," Reuters adds.

B 737 Max Ecab Construction underway

The road to development of the Boeing 737 MAX hit a major milestone recently, as construction for a new “e-cab” is underway. “An e-cab is an engineering flight simulator which gives you full fidelity. So a pilot can sit in the seat, can fly the airplane, and it feels like they are flying in a real airplane,” said Boeing Test & Evaluation 737 MAX e-cab project manager, Craig Standley.

E-cabs have become a valuable tool in the development, testing, and training of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The new 737 MAX e-cab will be outfitted with the latest flight deck displays that will be a part of the MAX. “This new display is actually an enhancement on the current 787 processing capabilities. So it gives us the ability to process more data, send more data to the pilots,” said BT&E 737 Chief Pilot Ray Craig.

The MAX e-cab, which can also serve as a Next-Generation 737 simulator, will be ready for limited testing later this year.

Android KitKat 4.4.4 Update Being Rolled Out To Moto G, Moto X and Moto E in India

Moto E
The KitKat 4.4.4 update for Moto E, Moto G and Moto X includes bug fixes and improved security featuresAndroid Central
Motorola has announced that the Android 4.4.4 update for its Moto X, Moto G and Moto E smartphones is being rolled out. The announcement on Twitter says the update will be initially rolled out in the Indian market.
The over-the-air (OTA) update is being released in phases, so not everyone will get it right away. But it should reach your phone in the coming days. Users will be notified when the update is available for their phone. Upon being notified, users will have to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
This development means Motorola is keeping its promise to roll out Android updates faster than the competition. This is possible because the company doesn't add many apps, custom UIs or layers of skins onto the core Android OS. Instead, it uses an almost stock Android OS, which only features minor tweaks.
Not only does this result in quick updates, it also appeals to users since there are many Android fans who prefer stock Android to the custom UI used by companies such as Samsung, Sony and others.
According to AndroidOS.In, since Motorola did not roll out Android 4.4.3 for any phones in India, the latest update will update the Moto X, E and G phones straight to Android 4.4.4.
The update's size is speculated to be between 50-75 MB, depending on the smartphone model.
Motorola has said that the update will include several stability, framework and security fixes as well as new phone dialer and OpenSSL-related fixes.
